Here’s a few ways you can get involved and support our work.
Help us grow
We are three graduate students in psychology and social work who are dedicated to reducing barriers to accessing quality mental health care.
In March 2020, a pandemic effectively shut down the United States, and shortly after, the murder of George Floyd sparked nationwide protests that highlighted centuries of injustice and oppression towards people of color. Rates of mental health concerns skyrocketed, and yet many were unable to find or afford quality, culturally sensitive mental health care.
We decided to develop a solution that would begin to equalize the playing field. That would provide a directory of free and affordable resources, all in one place. That would make it easier to navigate the complex mental health system. That prioritized the needs of people of color and folks who are struggling financially.
In June 2020, we formed Therapy4thePeople — a non-profit with a mission to increase access to mental health care for the people who need it most.
Because we all need support from time to time, and money shouldn’t get in the way.
To date, our co-founders have put in over $600 to build and operate Therapy4thePeople.org and expect the site will cost about $1,000 to run annually. We’re also in the process of obtaining 501(c)(3) status, which involves a lawyer and many associated fees. Once we have this status, we’ll be eligible to apply for grants to create more sustainable lines of funding. These funds will allow us to grow our site and make sure it reaches traditionally underserved communities through strategic marketing campaigns.
By making a donation today, you contribute to our mission and help reduce barriers to mental health care in the U.S.
